The Morne Brabant region is one of the most famous areas of Mauritius, with its iconic mountain (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and the famous ‘underwater waterfalls’ on its southern flank – an impressive optical illusion created by sand and mud washed into the depths by the ocean currents.
The southwest of Mauritius in particular is known for its national parks and numerous spectacular waterfalls, tea plantations and the large Hindu temple Ganga Talao or Temple Grand Bassin.
Very beautiful, well-maintained botanical garden that is definitely worth a visit.
Take a day trip to Ile Plate and Ile Gabriel or explore Ile aux Cerfs and the Great Southeast River instead.
