Your adventure begins with a visit to the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), one of the largest and most anticipated archaeological museums in the world. The museum houses an extensive collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts, including the treasures of Tutankhamun as well as works of art and mummified remains.
Today you will explore the ancient wonders of Egypt. The day begins with the impressive pyramids of Giza – the only remaining one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Admire the mighty Pyramid of Khufu and take an unforgettable photo with the legendary Sphinx, which has guarded the pyramids for thousands of years. Then visit Sakkara with the famous step pyramid of Djoser – an early prototype of pyramid architecture. The day ends with a visit to Memphis, the former capital of Egypt, where you can marvel at the remains of statues, temples and other buildings from the pharaonic era.
Today, the focus is on Cairo’s Islamic heritage. You start with a visit to the Ancient Egyptian Museum, which, despite its age, impresses with a fascinating collection of precious artifacts. Then continue to the Citadel of Cairo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with breathtaking views over the city and magnificent Islamic buildings such as the Mohamed Ali Mosque. Afterwards, explore the bustling Khan El Khalili Bazaar, where you can browse for souvenirs, handicrafts, spices, jewelry and much more.
The day begins with a visit to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, which displays Egypt’s history from ancient times to the present day. The museum houses thousands of exhibits and places particular emphasis on the development of Egyptian civilization. A highlight is the Royal Mummy Hall with 22 preserved mummies of former rulers. The tour then continues to Coptic Cairo, where you will discover historic Christian sites such as the Hanging Church and the Ben Ezra Synagogue. Here you will learn more about early Christianity in Egypt and its connection to ancient Egyptian history.
The morning is at your leisure – relax in the hotel, visit a café or take a walk along the Nile. A special excursion awaits you in the evening: “Cairo by night”. You will board a Nile cruise ship and enjoy dinner while cruising along the Nile. While you dine, you will experience the illuminated skyline of Cairo with views of landmarks such as the Cairo Tower.
Use the time to relax or explore Cairo on your own. Transfer to the airport in the evening.
