Düsseldorf, the lively city on the Rhine, can be reached directly by train from Luxembourg. The city is known for its elegant Königsallee, modern architecture and diverse art scene.
Must-See and Do
The old town
On the banks of the Rhine lies Düsseldorf’s famous Old Town, which is particularly atmospheric in winter. Mulled wine stands and festive lights transform the alleyways into a true winter wonderland. The numerous restaurants and bars invite you to spend sociable evenings – a perfect place to enjoy the festive atmosphere with a warm drink.
The Königsallee
The famous shopping street with its trees and canal is considered the most beautiful avenue in Düsseldorf. A true shopping paradise that attracts even more attention with its special architectural features.
The North Park
Away from the city center of Düsseldorf, the Nordpark with its elegant fountains stretches over an area of 36 hectares and is the most interesting of all the green spaces in the city. Among other things, there is a zoological museum, but also flower fields, fountains, a church and statues.
One of Düsseldorf’s specialties is the “Sauerbraten” (roast beef marinated in Düsseldorf mustard with potatoes and sauerkraut) and the “Reibekuchen”, which is best enjoyed on a terrace with an Altbier.
Rhine cruise
Another great idea for an excursion is a Rhine cruise. It allows you to discover the city from the river. Don’t miss out on a trip to the trendy Medienhafen district. All those futuristic-looking skyscrapers and renovated buildings are definitely worth a visit.
