Brussels – Weekend trip to the Belgian capital

Spend a weekend in the Belgian capital, which will welcome you with open arms. Just over 3 hours’ drive from Luxembourg station, a unique experience awaits you in a lively and friendly atmosphere.

Must-See and Do

Grand-Place/ Grote Markt

The Grand-Place, the city’s central square, was described by Victor Hugo as one of the most beautiful squares in the world. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the square simply enchants everyone. Numerous exhibitions and events, including the famous Brussels Christmas market, take place here. Nearby is also the Manneken-Pis, a statue of a cheeky little boy urinating in the fountain. Built in the 17th century, the statue is often adorned with costumes and occupies a special place among the landmarks of the city of Brussels.

The Atomium

Once built for the 1958 World Expo, the Atomium, Belgium’s landmark, offers a unique view over Brussels and is at the top of the list of attractions in the European capital.

Comic Museum

In the heart of Brussels, the Comic Museum invites you to discover the fascinating world of the ninth art. Famous Belgian comic heroes such as Tintin, the Smurfs and Marsupilami take center stage. Original drawings, interactive areas and entertaining exhibitions allow young and old to immerse themselves in the history and secrets of comics – a cultural experience. Fun is guaranteed!

Our tips

The Royal Saint-Hubert Galleries

Just a few steps away from the Grand-Place, you can stroll through the Saint-Hubert Royal Galleries. They consist of three different passages: the Galerie du Roi, the Galerie de la Reine and the Galerie des Princes. The Saint-Hubert Royal Galleries are home to jewelers, chocolatiers, boutiques, restaurants and cafés. The passages that connect the historic part of Brussels with the more modern area are flooded with daylight through the glazed roof.

Specialties of the Belgian cuisine

Brussels, known for its variety of restaurants, offers numerous culinary treasures. These not only make you happy, but also let you discover new tastes. There is also beer and chips on almost every street corner. Enjoy the taste!
